Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program (Up to $200,000)
Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program is a two-month, cost-covered training program that gives a small cohort of talented people from all over the world everything they need to launch a field-leading charity:

  • The necessary training.
  • A well-connected and collaborative community.
  • An evidence-based and cost-effective intervention idea.
  • Seed funding to get started.
  • Co-founder matching.

About Charity Entrepreneurship

Our mission is to enable more effective charities to exist in the world. We strive to achieve this goal through our extensive research process and Incubation Program. Charity Entrepreneurship was formally founded in June 2018 by Joey Savoie and Karolina Sarek as project of Charity Science Foundation of Canada that was initiated by six months of research in 2016 and resulted in the founding of two GiveWell-incubated charities.

Benefits

  • During the Program
    • They provide:
      • Stipends to cover your living costs during the Incubation Program (e.g., rent, wifi, food, childcare). The stipends are around £2,000 per month, based on participants’ needs and adjusted accordingly.
      • Travel and board costs for the 2 weeks in-person in London.
  • After the Program
    • If for any reason you will not be able to start a charity they provide:
      • Career mentorship (the track record for connecting non-founder participants to research grants, related jobs, and other pathways to impact is near 100%).
      • Two-month stipends to provide a safety net during the period of looking for alternative opportunities.
      • Continued access to the CE community via the Slack network.

  • Weekly ‘getting started’ sessions for the first 4 weeks.
  • Regular emails with further videos and resources that are relevant to you later in your charity journey (e.g., on hiring, or charity registration).
  • Monthly alumni call to share and receive knowledge from CE’s other incubated charities.
  • Slack group of over 100 charity founders and effective charity employees.
  • Support in WIX website design.
  • Weekly London socials and annual gatherings.
  • Knowledge and template base from our network of incubated charities.
  • Monthly mentorship meetings with the CE team.

Requirements

  • In short: everyone who is interested in this career path!
  • Nonprofit entrepreneurship is an unconventional career step that is not on most people’s radars. However, for those for whom it is a good fit, starting a charity could be the most impactful, fulfilling path they might ever take.

The Incubation Program lasts 8 weeks, followed by a 2-week in person seed-funding process.
