Pros and Cons

Pros

Vocational schools are mostly hands-on and the duration is mostly shorter than a standard diploma or degree programme offered in universities.

Cons

Vocational schools in Ghana mostly offer a 6-months long certificate programme, NVTI or a 1-year diploma. You won’t be able to get a degree from a vocational school.

Studying Fashion Design through Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship is the most common method of learning fashion in Ghana, most people will normally find a well-advanced seamstress to under-learn them for years to build their skills, learn the business and later go on to open their own establishments.

Pros and Cons

Pros

This method of learning fashion-design is cost-effective and direct on the job, so you have real-life experience of how things work in the cloth-making business.

Cons

Although this process is cost-effective, it is rather too long to complete and because it is not academia supported, seeking to get a degree and further postgraduate programs will not be possible.
