NIMC Identity Day Competition 2023: Express Your Take on Identity!

Commemorating the 5th Identity Day with the theme “Identity Concerns All, and It Is for All,” the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is extending an invitation to students from Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary institutions across Nigeria to participate in a contest involving essays, poetry, or artwork.

The topics will revolve around the core concept of identity, with specific guidelines tailored to each student’s educational level. Submissions can be sent either via email or directly to designated NIMC offices.

In collaboration, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) are enthusiastically marking the significant event of the 5th Identity Day.

This year’s celebration, centered around the enlightening theme “Identity Concerns All, and It Is for All,” calls upon young writers, poets, and artists from all corners of the Federation to step up and exhibit their creative abilities.

About National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) established by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007, has the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria, register persons covered by the Act, assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) and issue General Multi-Purpose Cards (GMPC) to those who are citizens of Nigeria as well as others legally residing within the country.

Requirements for NIMC Identity Day Competition

Entry Guidelines:

  • For the Essay Aficionados:
    • Primary School: Let your ideas flow but keep it tight within 250 words.
    • Secondary School: Dive a bit deeper but cap it at 1000 words.
    • Tertiary: Go all out with your thoughts, but don’t exceed 2000 words.
  • Poetry Lovers:
    • Keep your piece concise, ensuring it fits neatly within a single page, irrespective of your educational level.
  • Art Enthusiasts:
    • Pour your creativity on either an A4 or A3 canvas.

A gentle reminder to the NIMC family: Staff and their beloved family members are kindly requested to cheer from the sidelines, as they’re exempt from participating in this competition.
