Top 15 Universities that Accept D7 in Ghana
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Introduction

A D7 in any of the necessary courses makes admission to a reputable university in Ghana all but impossible. State-owned universities, such as the University of Ghana, KNUST, UCC, and many more, dislike D7 and would instantly reject you.

How can I get admission to the university with a D7?

If you’re willing to rewrite the essay through NOVDEC, you can enrol at a university in Ghana with a D7.

In some institutions, students can enrol in pre-programs to prepare for the NOVDEC exam before applying for admission or taking the mature entrance exam. For pupils interested in pursuing postsecondary education, GIMPA provides such programmes.

They provide this in two ways. The first is for younger individuals who can complete their pre-program to earn the necessary credentials to enrol in the full degree programme. For mature students who are over 25 and want to pursue a degree programme, the second option is available.

What if I attempt NOVDEC but fail once more?

In the event that you write NOVDEC and fail again, the institutions will request that you apply and rewrite the paper till you pass. You might be able to continue your study while working on the paper at some institutions, but others might require you to pass the exam in order to be admitted.

If you fail to produce the necessary grade to replace your failed WASSCE course(s), the school may still allow you to graduate but withhold your certificate until you do.

What should I do if I get a D7 in a required course, but I can’t still write NOVDEC?

Consider other institutions that offer diploma programmes if you’re still debating acquiring a degree.

After receiving that certification, you can go on to a university to finish your education and receive a degree. This could take you five to six years instead of the customary four years for a degree. Another choice is NIIT’s programmes, which provide a 3-year degree from the University of Greenwich in the UK.

To receive a degree from one of Ghana’s top universities, you must maintain good marks, and some institutions even have cut-off points for specific programmes.

Make every effort to study hard in high school to earn the grades required to enter the university of your choosing.

If you don’t meet the prerequisites, though, don’t give up; instead, register for NOVDEC and repeat the exam, or just do it the hard way by enrolling in a diploma programme to obtain a top-up degree.

You have two credentials that you can use to your advantage by earning a certificate before earning a top-up degree.
