KNUST SRC Presidential Aspirant and only female in the race, Yvonne Osei Adobea has vowed to negotiate for a significant increase in the Value of Claimant Benefits of the Life Insurance Policy from GHs 2,000 – GHs 10,000 when voted for into power. Every year KNUST students pay about Ghs 1,500,000 to Vanguard Insurance for its Life Insurance policy.

“Paying students a paltry GHs 2,000 when they lose a parent or guardian is pathetic, unethical and unacceptable. We will change that” she said. Yvonne Adobea, strongly criticized the current bereavement support offered to students, branding it “pathetic, unethical, and unacceptable.” Adobea pledged to bring about much-needed change and improvement in this area, vowing to ensure that students receive fairer compensation of GHs 2,000 when they lose a parent or guardian.

Recognizing the emotional and financial toll such losses can take, Adobea aims to create a more compassionate and supportive environment for students facing these difficult circumstances. With her promises of reform, Adobea hopes to garner support from the KNUST community and make a significant impact on students’ well-being.
GH¢10,000 For Any Student Who Loses Any Of His Or Her Parents
We don’t wish that any student loses a parent or guardian. But in the unfortunate event it happens, students shouldn’t receive anything less than GHs 10,000. This will not bring the parent back. But it’ll support livelihood and augment the unfortunate financial gap. This is what is fair and just. And I pledge to you to ensure this happens.
