Akufo Addo Congratulates NDC For Winning Assin North Seat

Introduction

Leader of the New Patriotic Party and President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo at long last has congratulated opposition NDC and Hon. James Gyakye Quayson for winning the Assin North parliamentary elections.

Nana Akufo Addo Commends Electoral Commission

His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo addressing party faithfuls on his official Facebook handle stated that he’s very happy. The people of Assin North comported themselves from the beginning of the elections till the results were declared. “Yesterday, Tuesday, 27th June 2023, Ghana’s democratic credentials were strengthened even further. Following the conduct of peaceful and credible elections in the Assin North by-election.”

On the other hand, he also credited Ghana’s Electoral management body led by Mrs Jean Mensa for the fantastic work they did in organising, supervising and collating of this election results. “I congratulate warmly the Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission, again, for a job well-done. The security services are to be commended for maintaining law and order during the holding of the elections. The media also for providing extensive coverage before, during and after the elections”.

Akufo Addo Congratulates NDC

Although his party lost, he went on to congratulate NDC and James Gyakye Quayson for winning the seat. However, he was quick to add that the seat originally belonged to NPP and every soon they will come back to win it. “I congratulate the National Democratic Congress on its victory yesterday.”

Promises To Win Back Assin North

To his fellows in NPP, he urged them not to give up but rather works towards breaking the 8 in 2024. “I urge members of my party, the New Patriotic Party, to keep their heads up. I recognise that, in a democracy, there are winners and losers, and that we live to fight another day. We once held the Assin North seat. I am confident that, sooner rather than later, Assin North will be blue again”.
