Recently, the Ghana Education Service (GES) came under criticism from a number of educators and Ghanaians after announcing that it had hired several new teachers for the service. Many people accused local officials of the New Patriotic Party of filling most of the available slots before the official announcement.
In response, GES released the names of shortlisted applicants for recruitment into the service and directed all diploma teachers who applied to visit www.gespromotions.gov.gh to check their recruitment status. However, checking the status of recruitment comes with a fee of GHC10.00.
Qualified teachers who wish to apply for the employment opportunity are required to meet specific criteria. They must have completed the Diploma in Basic Education Programme, passed the National Teacher Licensure Examination, and completed the mandatory National Service. They must also be ready to work wherever their service is needed.
This recruitment has a specific job purpose for applicants, including facilitating learning using 21st-century technology, improving learners’ ability to research using new technologies, catering for learners with different learning abilities, and using a variety of assessment tools and tasks to accurately assess levels of learner competency.
The GES has urged all qualified and passionate teachers to apply through the official GES recruitment portal at gespromotions.gov.gh. The recruitment application portal is opened from February 10 to accept applications from qualified teachers and would be closed to the public on February 24, 2023.
